pascals

Units of force/area

Pascals are units of pressure in the metric system, measuring force per unit area.

One pascal equals one newton per square meter.

The unit is named for Blaise Pascal, the 17th-century French mathematician and physicist.

Because a single pascal is quite small, measurements often appear in kilopascals or megapascals: Tire pressure runs about 220 kilopascals.
