millibars
Barometric measurement units
Millibars are units of atmospheric pressure, each equal to one thousandth of a bar.
Meteorologists use millibars to measure and report barometric pressure: The hurricane's central pressure dropped to 940 millibars.
Lower readings indicate storms; higher readings suggest fair weather.
One standard atmosphere equals about 1013 millibars.
