pacts

Deals between parties

Pacts are formal agreements between parties, often carrying a sense of solemnity or binding commitment.

The word suggests something weightier than a casual agreement—treaties between nations, deals sealed with ceremony, or promises made with serious intent: The two countries signed a nonaggression pact.

A pact can also be informal but earnest: We made a pact never to speak of it again.

The singular is pact.
