entente
Nations' informal agreement
An entente is a friendly understanding or agreement between nations, less formal than an alliance but establishing cooperative relations.
The term often appears in historical contexts: the Entente Cordiale between Britain and France, the Triple Entente of World War I.
The two countries reached an entente on trade policy.
