organized religion

Structured worship systems

Organized religion refers to faith practiced through established institutions—churches, mosques, synagogues, temples—with formal doctrines, clergy, and structured worship.

The term often carries implicit contrast with personal spirituality or private belief: She was raised Catholic but now considers herself spiritual rather than into organized religion.

Critics use it to distinguish institutional religion from individual faith.
