freethought

Logic over dogma

Freethought is the practice of forming beliefs—especially about religion, morality, and politics—through reason and evidence rather than tradition, authority, or dogma.

The term emerged from Enlightenment-era challenges to religious orthodoxy and remains associated with secularism, skepticism, and rejection of supernatural claims: a freethought society, the freethought movement.
