Renoir

French light-capturer

Renoir refers to either of two celebrated French artists: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919), the Impressionist painter known for luminous scenes of leisure and feminine beauty, or his son Jean Renoir (1894–1979), the influential film director.

Without qualification, Renoir usually means the painter: The museum just acquired a Renoir.

A Renoir suggests warm colors, soft light, and sensuous surfaces.
