Titian
Lagoon city painter
Titian was the leading Venetian painter of the sixteenth century, known for his mastery of color and his portraits of European nobility.
His name appears in art historical contexts and as shorthand for his distinctive style: a Titian portrait, the Titian galleries at the Prado. (Lowercase titian is the hair color he made famous.)
