supercompensation
Recovery beyond baseline
Supercompensation is a training principle in which the body, after recovering from exertion, temporarily adapts beyond its previous capacity.
Athletes time their next workout or competition to coincide with this peak: If you rest too long, you lose the supercompensation window.
The concept applies to strength, endurance, and other physical capacities that improve through cycles of stress and recovery.
