striation
Linear surface marking
Striation refers to a pattern of parallel lines, grooves, or bands on a surface.
The term appears in geology (striations carved by glaciers), anatomy (the banding pattern of skeletal muscle fibers), and any context where something shows fine parallel markings: The striations in the rock indicated ancient ice movement.
The plural striations is more common than the singular.
