myopathy
Disease affecting muscles
Myopathy is any disease of muscle tissue, particularly skeletal muscles.
The term covers conditions causing muscle weakness, cramping, or wasting—whether inherited, acquired through infection, or resulting from metabolic disorders.
The doctor suspected a myopathy when the patient reported progressive difficulty climbing stairs.
