protein synthesis
Making cellular machinery
Protein synthesis is the biological process by which cells build proteins from amino acids.
Ribosomes read genetic instructions encoded in messenger RNA and assemble amino acids into chains that fold into functional proteins.
The process occurs in two stages: transcription (copying DNA to RNA) and translation (converting RNA into protein).
Errors in protein synthesis can cause genetic disorders.
