motoring
Cruising by car
Motoring is traveling by car, especially for pleasure rather than necessity.
The word has a slightly old-fashioned, leisurely feel—it evokes Sunday drives and scenic routes rather than commuting: We spent the afternoon motoring through the countryside.
In British English, motoring also serves as an adjective for car-related matters: motoring offenses, motoring enthusiasts.
