A Sunday motorist is someone who drives slowly, hesitantly, or obliviously—as if out for a leisurely weekend drive rather than navigating real traffic.
The term is mildly derogatory, suggesting the driver lacks urgency or awareness: Some Sunday motorist doing 45 in the fast lane held up traffic for miles.
