Spinning barrel weapon
A minigun is a multi-barrel machine gun with rotating barrels, capable of extremely high rates of fire—typically several thousand rounds per minute.
The barrels rotate like a Gatling gun, preventing overheating.
Despite the name, miniguns are large weapons, usually vehicle-mounted: The helicopter's minigun tore through the jungle canopy.
The "mini" distinguishes it from larger rotary cannons.
