perineum

Between the exits

The perineum is the area of the body between the anus and the genitals—the scrotum in males, the vulva in females.

In anatomy and medicine, it refers to the muscular floor of the pelvis.

The perineum may tear during childbirth and is sometimes surgically cut (episiotomy) to facilitate delivery.
