matzos

Unleavened seder bread

Matzos is a plural of matzo, the unleavened flatbread eaten during Passover.

Jewish tradition holds that the Israelites fleeing Egypt had no time to let their bread rise, so matzo commemorates that haste.

Also spelled matzos, matzot, or matzoth.

We bought three boxes of matzos for the seder.
