matzas

Flat Seder crackers

Matzas is the plural of matza, the unleavened flatbread eaten during the Jewish holiday of Passover.

The bread commemorates the Israelites' hasty exodus from Egypt, when there was no time for dough to rise.

We bought several boxes of matzas for the seder.

Also spelled matzos, matzahs, or matzot.
