main decks

Ship's principal levels

The main deck is the principal deck of a ship, typically the uppermost complete deck running the full length of the vessel.

On large ships with multiple decks, the main deck serves as the primary working and circulation level.

The plural refers to the main decks of multiple vessels or, less commonly, to different sections of a single ship's primary deck: Sailors swabbed the main decks before inspection.
