lunisolar calendar
Lunar-solar date system
A lunisolar calendar tracks both lunar phases and the solar year, synchronizing months with the moon while keeping seasons aligned with the sun.
This requires periodic adjustments—typically adding an extra month every few years.
The Hebrew, Chinese, and Hindu calendars are lunisolar: Passover and Chinese New Year fall on different dates each year because they follow lunisolar calendars.
