Chinese zodiac

Eastern year signs

The Chinese zodiac is a twelve-year cycle in which each year is associated with an animal: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

The system assigns personality traits based on birth year and figures prominently in Chinese New Year celebrations and astrology: She was born in the year of the dragon.
