line break

Poet's deliberate interruption

A line break is where text ends on one line and continues on the next.

In word processing, line breaks happen automatically when text reaches the margin, or manually when you press Enter or Return.

In poetry and code, line breaks are deliberate structural choices: The poet's line breaks created unexpected pauses.

A hard line break is inserted intentionally; a soft line break adjusts with window size.
