A letterer is someone who draws letters by hand, especially for artistic or commercial purposes.

In comics and graphic novels, the letterer adds dialogue, captions, and sound effects to the artwork: The letterer's work made the action scenes pop.

Sign painters, calligraphers, and typographic artists may also be called letterers.
