Words beneath image
A caption is text accompanying an image, explaining or describing what appears in it: The caption identified everyone in the photograph.
Captions also refer to the text at the bottom of a screen translating or transcribing dialogue, especially for deaf viewers or foreign films.
The verb means to provide such text: She captioned the video for accessibility.
