Tiamat

Babylonian chaos goddess

Tiamat is a primordial goddess of the sea in Babylonian mythology, depicted as a dragon or serpent of chaos.

In the creation epic *Enuma Elish*, the god Marduk slays her and fashions the heavens and earth from her body.

The name appears frequently in fantasy games and fiction as a dragon deity or monster: The party finally faced Tiamat in the final dungeon.
