release the kraken
Summon the monster
Release the kraken is a command to unleash something powerful, overwhelming, or chaotic.
The phrase comes from the 1981 film *Clash of the Titans*, where Zeus orders the sea monster released to destroy a city.
It's now used humorously or dramatically for anything from opening a beer to launching an aggressive strategy: It's Friday night—release the kraken!
