hydropower
River-generated energy
Hydropower is electricity generated from the energy of flowing or falling water.
Dams are the most common source, using turbines turned by released water to produce power.
Hydropower is renewable and produces no direct emissions, making it attractive for clean energy: The region gets most of its electricity from hydropower.
Also called hydroelectric power.
