hank

Looped fiber bundle

A hank is a coil or loop of something flexible—yarn, rope, hair, or wire—gathered into a manageable bundle: She wound the yarn into a hank.

In textiles, hank is also a standard unit of length that varies by fiber: 840 yards for cotton, 560 yards for worsted wool. (Capitalized Hank is a given name.)
