halacha
Rabbinic legal decision
Halacha is the collective body of Jewish religious law derived from the Torah, Talmud, and rabbinic rulings.
It governs not just ritual observance but daily life—what to eat, how to conduct business, when to work and rest: The question of whether this ingredient is kosher depends on halacha.
The adjective is halachic.
Also spelled halakha or halakhah. (Capitalized Halacha is the same word, sometimes used to emphasize the system as a whole.)
