mussar
Jewish moral instruction
Mussar is a Jewish ethical tradition focused on character development and moral self-improvement.
The practice involves studying classical texts, daily reflection, and disciplined work on specific virtues like humility, patience, and gratitude.
The 19th-century Mussar movement formalized these practices in Eastern European yeshivas: She keeps a mussar journal to track her spiritual progress.
