mikvah
Jewish purification pool
A mikvah is a Jewish ritual bath used for spiritual purification.
Immersion in a mikvah marks transitions—conversion to Judaism, preparation for the Sabbath, or a bride before her wedding.
Orthodox Jewish women traditionally visit the mikvah after menstruation before resuming sexual relations with their husbands.
The pool must contain natural water, usually rainwater collected according to religious law.
