grog

Watered-down rum

Grog is alcoholic drink, especially rum diluted with water—originally a British naval ration.

The term now applies loosely to any liquor or alcoholic beverage: After a long day, he poured himself some grog.

Groggy, meaning dazed or unsteady, comes from the effects of drinking too much of it.
