rum ration
Naval spirit portion
A rum ration is an allotment of rum distributed to sailors or soldiers, historically a daily entitlement in the British Royal Navy until 1970.
The practice extended to other navies and military forces.
The term sometimes appears figuratively for any regular allocation of alcohol or other indulgence: After a long week, I've earned my rum ration.
