inebriated
Three sheets windward
Inebriated means drunk.
The word is more formal than *drunk* or *wasted*, often appearing in legal or medical contexts: The driver was visibly inebriated.
It can sound deliberately elevated or euphemistic when describing someone who's simply had too much to drink: By midnight, half the wedding guests were thoroughly inebriated.
