groggy
Barely awake yet
Groggy describes a state of sluggish confusion, typically from incomplete sleep, illness, or intoxication.
Someone groggy has trouble thinking clearly and may be unsteady: I was still groggy from the anesthesia.
The word originally described sailors drunk on grog, a diluted rum ration.
