galvanism
Electricity from chemistry
Galvanism is the production of electric current through chemical action, or the stimulation of muscles by electric current.
The term comes from Luigi Galvani, whose experiments showed that electricity could make dead frogs' legs twitch.
Figuratively, galvanism suggests a sudden jolt of energy or revival: The speech provided a galvanism the campaign desperately needed.
