reanimation

Bringing back life

Reanimation is the act of bringing something back to life or restoring it to an active state.

The term appears in medicine for reviving someone whose heart has stopped, and in fiction for raising the dead: Frankenstein's reanimation of the creature, CPR and other reanimation techniques.

More loosely, reanimation describes reviving anything dormant: the reanimation of a stalled project.
