fax modem
Phone-line peripheral
A fax modem is a device that allows a computer to send and receive faxes over telephone lines, combining the functions of a traditional fax machine with a computer modem.
Common in offices during the 1990s, fax modems let users transmit documents directly from software without printing them first: I sent the contract through the fax modem.
