hypertext
Web's connective writing
Hypertext is text displayed on a computer that contains links to other text, allowing readers to jump between related documents or sections.
The term captures how digital text transcends the linear structure of printed pages—you can follow connections in any direction.
The World Wide Web is built on hypertext: Click the hypertext link to learn more.
The prefix hyper- suggests text that goes beyond ordinary text.
