CRC

Error detection algorithm

CRC stands for cyclic redundancy check, a method for detecting errors in digital data.

A short code is calculated from a block of data and attached to it; if the recalculated code doesn't match after transmission or storage, corruption has occurred.

CRCs appear throughout computing—in file formats, network protocols, and storage devices: The download failed a CRC check.
