twisted pair

Wound copper wires

Twisted pair is a type of electrical cable in which two insulated copper wires are twisted around each other.

The twisting reduces electromagnetic interference and crosstalk between adjacent wires.

Twisted pair cabling is the standard for telephone lines and Ethernet networks: Cat5 and Cat6 cables use twisted pairs.
