enfranchised
Granted voting rights
Enfranchised means granted the right to vote or, more broadly, given full membership in a political community.
Citizens become enfranchised when legal barriers to voting are removed: Women were enfranchised in the United States in 1920.
The word extends to any inclusion in a system of rights or privileges: Previously marginalized groups now feel enfranchised in the decision-making process.
