mailbox

Curbside postal receptacle

A mailbox is a container for receiving or sending mail.

In American usage, it's either the box at your residence where postal carriers leave letters, or the blue collection boxes on street corners.

In computing, a mailbox is an email inbox: My mailbox is overflowing with unread messages.

British English prefers letterbox for the physical container.
