digesting
Absorbing after eating
Digesting is the process of breaking down food in the body so nutrients can be absorbed.
The word extends to mental processing: I'm still digesting the news.
Something difficult to accept is hard to digest.
A digest is a summary or compilation of information, condensed for easier absorption—the same idea applied to text rather than food.
