alimentary canal
Mouth-to-anus passage
The alimentary canal is the continuous tube through which food passes from mouth to anus—essentially the digestive tract as a single passage.
It includes the esophagus, stomach, and intestines.
The term is more common in anatomy and biology than everyday speech: The alimentary canal processes nutrients and expels waste.
