cytologist
Studies cellular structures
A cytologist is a scientist who studies cells—their structure, function, and abnormalities.
The term most often refers to medical professionals who examine cell samples to detect disease, particularly cancer: The cytologist found abnormal cells in the Pap smear.
The field is cytology.
