cow

Source of milk

A cow is a mature female of domestic cattle, kept for milk and beef.

The term extends to females of other large animals: elephant cows, whale cows.

Informally, cow covers cattle generally regardless of sex.

As British slang, cow is a derogatory term for a woman: stupid cow, you silly cow.

To cow someone is to intimidate them into submission: The workers were cowed into silence.
