cosplayer
Character costume enthusiast
A cosplayer is someone who dresses up as a character from fiction, gaming, or popular culture—the word blends "costume" and "player." Cosplayers create elaborate outfits to wear at conventions, competitions, or photo shoots: The cosplayers at Comic-Con were incredible this year.
The practice ranges from casual fan tribute to intricate craftsmanship requiring months of work.
