lurker
Watches, never posts
A lurker is someone who observes without participating.
The term comes from internet culture, where lurkers read forums, social media, or chat rooms without posting or commenting: I've been lurking on this subreddit for months.
The verb lurk originally meant to lie in wait or move stealthily, suggesting something sinister, but online lurking is usually passive and harmless—just watching from the shadows.
