combustor
Jet engine furnace
A combustor is the chamber in a gas turbine or jet engine where fuel mixes with compressed air and burns.
The combustor receives air from the compressor, adds fuel, ignites the mixture, and sends hot gases to the turbine.
Also called a combustion chamber: The engine's combustor reached temperatures exceeding 2000 degrees.
